Susan
Roberts is uniquely qualified to integrate
food, agriculture, health and law in developing strategies for safer,
more sustainable, more just food systems which in turn catalyze greater
health and prosperity among individuals, communities, environments, and
nations. It is her unique education, extensive experience, and passion
which gives Roberts a visionary approach to address and solve problems
whether working on international food security and health, engaging
individuals through various media, in providing innovative ideas to
business and industry, in collaborating with legal firms, or in working
on policy with institutes, NGO's or government.
As a
medical researcher, government administrator, entrepreneurial business
owner, and legal consultant, Ms. Roberts has developed and demonstrated
a myriad of skills which give her unique qualifications. Her visionary
approach is based on the demonstrated skills of:
-
Strategic planning and drive to achieve results . For
example, Roberts developed, implemented and evaluated award winning
health and wellness programs for business and industry to solve health
care cost problems. Companies experienced major improvements in
employee health and cost savings. In a program for a major health
insurance company, all employee health parameters improved and health
care costs were reduced by 64% over a six month follow-up; or, in
another major project Roberts developed an innovative national program
for the US Department of Transportation addressing and improving major
health problems and costs experienced by the trucking industry.
-
Communicating to inform and motivate an audience . Ms.
Roberts's has written for newspapers such as the Des Moines Register
including a syndicated Beyond Diet series, for national magazines such
as Better Homes and Gardens, and for professional law and medical
journals. Roberts is a compelling speaker who has addressed both
consumer and professional groups from 10 to a 1000. She has also
interviewed on both local and national radio and television on such
programs as CBS news radio and the PBS Lehrer Business Hour.
-
Motivating people through leadership to perform their best by
fostering a positive and challenging environment that delivers results
. Ms. Roberts demonstrates these skills in many arenas from
supervising and mentoring staff to meet high goals, in being elected
to lead peers in national professional groups, to counseling patients
to improve their health. For example, Robert's experience and success
in dealing with obesity and weight loss has been highlighted with
patients featured in numerous newspaper articles and national
magazines.
-
Understanding of business and entrepreneurship from confidence and
maturity that comes with the experience of owning a very successful,
unique consulting business for over 20 years putting Roberts
in the top 5% of her nutrition profession in earning power.
-
Analyzing policy and legislation from experience in
government administration, food and agriculture legal policy work, and
legal internships in legislation and lobbying in both state government
and the national congress.
-
Interpreting complex nutrition research for medical and legal
professionals and consumers based on experience undertaking
human medical research.
Ms. Roberts
